i've had a dvd player ALWAYS!!! it's my favorite thing. It doesn't get used all the time, but I am so glad I have it. every Christmas and birthday, I ask for my favorite films on DVD so I can slowly build my collection.
Omg! That apple cloud thing…. Blew my mind and now I’m definitely downloading everything onto a hard drive or something. Also: I recently found my old dvd player, cancelled my Netflix, and have been having the time of my life! No more decision fatigue! No more mindless binge watching & brain rotting! It actually feels so much better, so much more intentional. I love it!
so far I've stolen half my mums old DVD collection (which also means watching a lot of older classics and romcoms which is so fun!) and haven't bought any, but I feel like in the spirit of sustainability I'm going to try thrifting them in charity shops or on Facebook marketplace type platforms. I feel like actually buying them new will also present me with a new decision making issue (I'm so bad at that) and I've seen people sell like 5-10 DVDs online and its like a random collection which I think could be fun. And also maybe borrowing them from the library or friends' parents etc, I feel like a lot of older people still have loads of them lying around lol. For newer films I've been trying to actually go to the theatre to see them.
That's so trueee! I went to hmv and just stood for ages deciding which dvd to get and in the end I didn't get any. I like the idea of just buying someones random collection and finding potential faves that way

Such a good idea!! I need to add that to my birthday list! I usually ask for film but I think some tv box sets would be great!!
yes!! it's so nice to have them when streaming services are down
